The Department of Management aims to maintain the highest standards with regards to the research conducted here and follows a rigorous procedure to achieve that. Otago Management Graduate ReviewEach year the department publishes a collection of the best work by its graduate students. Competitive Advantage New ZealandCANZ – Competitive Advantage New Zealand – is a large-scale programme of research into the evolution of competitive capability in New Zealand firms. Researchers at Victoria, Otago, Massey/Albany and Waikato Universities are involved with the programme. Funding from the Foundation for Research Science and Technology has allowed the programme to study dozens of exemplar New Zealand enterprises since the programme’s inception in 1998. Asia Institute (formerly North East Asia Institute)Staff of the department were involved in the setting up of the University's Asia Institute. This is an initiative to bring together researchers and companies from Otago University and New Zealand to share expertise and to co-operate on researching the business environments around Asia. New Zealand Business Case Research Centre (incorporating Centre for Management Cases)The New Zealand Business Case Research Centre is a national initiative established by the Department in 2003. The New Zealand Business Case Research Centre aims to facilitate the advancement of management knowledge through case research and teaching. Industrial Relations Research CentreThe Industrial Relations Research Centre examines a variety of contemporary employment issues of interest to academics, practitioners, and to the general public. This site focuses on research work currently in progress at the Centre, and includes information about the Centre's research team, current areas of research interest, analysis of IRRC research and Press and industry coverage of IRRC work. New Zealand Journal of Industrial RelationsThe New Zealand Journal of Industrial Relations, which started in 1976, was edited by this department from 1992 to 2004. Archives from this period are still available on the department website. In 2004, the journal changed its title and editors. It is now called the `New Zealand Journal of Employment Relations', and the new editors are: Dr Erling Rasmussen and Dr Felicity Lamm, Senior Lecturers at the University of Auckland, and Dr Rupert Tipples, Senior Lecturer at Lincoln University. Centre for Research in Business Law, Conflict and NegotiationsThe team's major focus is on negotiation, conflict and dispute settlement in industrial and employment settings and all areas of industrial and business law, and corporate governance, with the capacity to research beyond employment contexts to include resolution of community, tenancy, inter-organisational and international conflict.
