Jo
Kirkwood
Jo teaches operations management and total quality management
at the University of Otago. She worked as a Policy Advisor
at the Ministry of Commerce Wellington, in the area of Radio
Spectrum Management. Jo has a number of research interests,
including small-medium enterprises, women entrepreneurs and
quality management, and is completing a PhD in the entrepreneurship
field. Her focus is on the influence of family on motivations
for becoming an entrepreneur. Jo focuses on writing cases
on New Zealand companies, including Hubbard’s Foods,
Happy Hens, Kelly Tarlton’s and TelstraClear. In conjunction
with Diane Ruwhiu, Jo has published these cases in a wide
variety of books, case-clearing houses and has presented papers
based on the cases in international conferences. In October
2002 Jo won an award for a case on 'Kelly Tarlton’s
Underwater World and Antarctic Adventure', presented at the
North American Case Research Association (NACRA) Conference
in Banff, Canada.
