Originally a scientist, Ken gained a postgraduate qualification specialising in marketing in 1979 and the ITP (International Teachers Program) Certificate (HEC, France) in 1985. Working with Pilkington his doctorate addressed the diffusion of high technology medical equipment and how the strategic use of IT could speed up its adoption.
He has work experience in finance and corporate planning and has undertaken consultancy work in a variety of industries; internet, software, LANs, electronics, oil and healthcare. He joined the Department in 1996 after twelve years lecturing at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He has also lectured at Napier University, Scotland, the University of Warsaw, Poland and Jilin University, China. Currently he lectures in Marketing Management, Marketing of Services and Internet Marketing. This teaching is spread across our undergraduate, postagraduate and Executive Education programs.
His research interests are in the areas of Internet Marketing, IT in Marketing, Service Sector Competitiveness, Innovation, Marketing Strategy and Marketing Education. As a member of the Marketing Performance Centre he worked with colleagues investigating "Service Sector Competitiveness" in New Zealand firms.
Currently Ken is supervising 9 PhD candidates, 8 in the electronic marketing arena and 1 MCom.
